Cardiff Bay Coastalong 2011 photos

Saturday was a brilliant day out, about a 100 people embarked from the Norwegian Church at 2pm including babies, children, a tap, walking groups, families, friends and of course the Cardiff WaterAid supporters.

The rain stayed away all afternoon, we even had a few spots of sunshine- and no one got lost either! It was a pleasure to meet and talk to people en route, but was still a relief to get back to the Norwegian Church and mission accomplished.

The route is 6 miles long, and took us about 2.5 hours- did you know that women and children in some of the world's poorest countries walk on average 6km to often unprotected water sources such as rivers or muddy dugouts, and that the average weight carried is 20kg?

So thank you for your fundraising efforts- it really does make a difference.

We've put together a gallery of photos from the day, if you have anymore that we could add please send them to wateraidcardiff@gmail.com

Finally, we'd love to hear what you think about the event- did you enjoy it? Leave your comments below.

  1. The first of many Cardiff Coast-a-longs, what a fantastic day!
The organising group are a modest bunch but they deserve a huge pat on the back, for all their efforts.. Well done to you all :-)
It was a real pleasure to see so many like minded people supporting the cause and raising money for one of life’s essential necessities – Water!
I think that between us all we managed to raise in the region of £1000 +/- awesome, thanks to everyone who dug deep and furnished the shaker tins..
I’ll be keeping an eye on the blog and twitter for future events and hope to meet up with new friends made on the day again..
